Interim Matildas coach Tom Sermanni has strongly criticized the professionalism of the A-League Women competition, stating that Australian football is still “grossly underinvested” in supporting the women’s game.
Sermanni finds it especially “irritating” that the league is not yet fully professional, particularly after the enormous success of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
