Key Storylines
Georgia made it to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff last season. They fell short against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at that stage and quarterback injuries played a big role in their demise. Georgia has added impactful transfers and retained key contributors like RB Nate Frazier and TE Oscar Delp. The Bulldogs will be expected to roll here despite big changes at quarterback and on defense.
Marshall begins a new era under coach Tony Gibson in this game. They saw a ton of departures in the transfer portal as a result of the coaching changes. The Thundering Herd will likely face a steep learning curve in a hostile environment here against one of the best teams in all of college football.

Gunner Stockton is set to start this season at quarterback for the fifth-ranked Bulldogs. Stockton played in the College Football Playoff loss last season thanks to Carson Beck’s injury issues. Marshall has not committed to a starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against Georgia. They have stated that they will announce their decision at kickoff. They don’t have anyone who immediately jumps out as a deserving starter so this will be something to monitor as the game begins.
