Ahead of the Women’s FA Cup final against Chelsea, Manchester United Women’s manager Marc Skinner is feeling optimistic about the future of his team.
Skinner, who led United to FA Cup glory last season, gifted his winner’s medal to his older daughter. Now, he hopes to clinch another triumph at Wembley this Sunday—this time, with a medal to give to his younger daughter. For Skinner, the motivation is deeply personal. When asked how he spends his limited free time, his answer is simple: family.
“I don’t live a rockstar lifestyle,” Skinner explained. “I’m just a dad who works hard at his job and then goes home. We don’t have the kind of salaries you see in men’s football—there are no nannies. We work hard and juggle everything.”
Family life plays a grounding role in his routine. “Every night, I bathe the kids, feed them, put them to bed. I just enjoy being with them and with Laura [Bassett, his partner]. That time isn’t just a break from work—it refuels me. It gives me love and warmth.”
As Skinner prepares for what could be another historic moment in his managerial career, it’s clear that his biggest inspiration comes not from trophies, but from the people waiting for him at home.
