Manchester City climbed to third place in the Premier League table after a crucial win over Bournemouth, keeping their Champions League qualification hopes firmly within reach. Although Kevin De Bruyne wasn’t able to cap off the night with a goal in what could be one of his final appearances for the club, the team ensured a memorable send-off.
City’s performance was driven by strong contributions from Bernardo Silva and Nico González, who both found the back of the net. De Bruyne had a golden opportunity to score but missed an open goal, a rare lapse in an otherwise celebrated night for the Belgian playmaker.
Midfielder Mateo Kovacic was shown a red card, briefly putting City under added pressure. However, the game ultimately ended with both sides reduced to 10 men, easing the tension and allowing fans at the Etihad Stadium to celebrate their midfield maestro’s farewell.
While De Bruyne may not have had the fairytale ending he hoped for on the pitch, the result and atmosphere provided a fitting tribute to one of City’s modern legends.
