‘I have been better when I lost,’ Enrique Remarks
With only one match remaining this season, in which Paris Saint-Germain achieved their first Champions League victory to secure a historic treble, the Club World Cup final is on the horizon. However, Luis Enrique believes it has not been his peak performance, stating he excelled during defeats. The PSG coach acknowledges Manchester City as still the top team and stresses the challenge posed by Chelsea, whom he compares to his own team. Chelsea could thwart their perfect season and are led by a manager he “adores.”
“The Champions League was our first and crucial; it was our primary goal upon arriving in Paris last year,” Enrique explained. “This Sunday, we have the opportunity to claim another title with the last game of the season, the Club World Cup. Yet, we must recognize the game’s challenges. [Enzo] Maresca is a manager I admire. I appreciate his approach to ball play. Chelsea boasts many talented individuals but also a strong sense of duty. They resemble our team in many ways. They are physically formidable as well. It will be a well-matched and tough game.
