A major white label gambling provider, TGP Europe, has announced its withdrawal from the UK market. The company, known for operating more than 25 gambling platforms — including brands like Kaiyun, Fun88, and SBOTop — has previously partnered with several English Premier League soccer clubs.
The move comes after the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) warned TGP Europe of an impending £3.3 million ($4.4 million) fine unless it made significant improvements to its anti-money laundering controls and business partner vetting processes. Rather than comply, TGP Europe chose to surrender its UK license and discontinue operations in the country.
This decision has created complications for several prominent football clubs — including Burnley FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Newcastle United FC, Fulham FC, and AFC Bournemouth — as they now find themselves tied to gambling partners that are no longer licensed in the UK.
The UKGC has stepped in, advising these clubs on measures to ensure that UK-based users are unable to access or transact with the affected platforms. Enforcement chief John Pierce stated the Commission will conduct random checks to verify the effectiveness of geoblocking measures. He also warned that club officials could face legal consequences if they are found to be promoting unlicensed gambling services to UK audiences.
Pierce further emphasized that TGP Europe must clearly inform UK customers about how they can withdraw any remaining balances from the now-unlicensed sites.
