A bettor in Las Vegas is set to win a minimum of $6.6 million, no matter if the New England Patriots or Seattle Seahawks emerge victorious in Super Bowl LX this Sunday.
The anonymous gambler has reportedly already secured nearly $10.5 million from Circa Sports due to seven pre-season bets on the Seahawks. An additional $3 million could be earned if Seattle claims the Vince Lombardi trophy this weekend.
As reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal, the bettor also placed a $1.8 million money line bet on the Patriots at both Circa Sports and BetMGM sportsbook, with the potential to win $3.5 million.
At BetMGM, nearly $1.5 million has already been won following the Seahawks’ playoff progression, with over $3 million possible if Seattle wins. However, a $725,000 hedge bet on the Patriots money line (+195) to win $1.41 million ensures a profit of either $2.2 million if Seattle wins or $1.36 million if they lose.
MGM Resorts Director of Trading Lamarr Mitchell commented, “We had the guy that bet early in the year on the Seahawks. He absolutely came back with a hedge bet, so he’s a winner either way.” He added, “He’s going to win either the Patriots money line or Seahawks future book.”
Mike Palm, Circa Vice President of Operations for The D and Golden Gate, recalled the man placed seven $50k bets on the Seahawks in August. After succeeding on the first three, the bettor’s potential $3 million profit if Seattle wins was “a nice hedge.”
Considering all the futures and hedge bets, the gambler is set to win a total of either $8.1 million if Seattle triumphs, or $6.6 million if the Patriots succeed on Sunday.
