Kelly Clarkson, the renowned American singer and television personality, kicked off her new Las Vegas residency, Studio Sessions, on July 11. This came after she had to cancel the initial July 4 launch just hours before the performance due to illness and the need to preserve her voice.
In a heartfelt Instagram message shared shortly before the postponed July 4 concert, Clarkson explained that the rigorous preparation and rehearsals had strained her vocal cords, necessitating the cancellation.
“We can’t help our bodies sometimes if we get sick, and that happens,” Clarkson expressed to her fans, apologizing to those who were affected by the cancellation.
Set at Caesars Palace, the residency aims to emulate the vibe of a behind-the-scenes studio session. It provides a minimalist, intimate experience with Clarkson performing alongside her band. Notably, she changed her outfit only once during the entire show for the encore, humorously noting her sweaty state.
The two-hour performance was packed with popular hits such as “Since U Been Gone,” “Sober,” and “Tight Rope,” and also featured her latest single, “Where Have You Been.”
During the opening night, the Grammy Award-winner shared that she had sold a portion of her music rights. She took a moment to honor her long-time music director, Jason Halbert, acknowledging his significant contribution to her music catalog since her American Idol days in 2003.
Studio Sessions marks Clarkson’s second residency in Las Vegas, following her Chemistry residency at Planet Hollywood in the summer of 2023.
