James Trafford did not anticipate Manchester City signing Gianluigi Donnarumma following his transfer from Burnley last summer, which might lead to the deputy goalkeeper’s departure this summer. Trafford returned to City after two years at Turf Moor on July 31 in a £31m deal before Pep Guardiola expressed a desire to also acquire Donnarumma. The Italian joined on September 2nd from Paris Saint-Germain for £26m and became Guardiola’s preferred choice.
