An Illinois iLottery player is celebrating after winning an $800,000 prize by securing the Lucky Day Lotto jackpot over the weekend. The winning numbers, 15-22-28-36-38, were played online on Sunday, June 22.
A Single Winner Takes Home $800K
On that day, 17,500 winning tickets were sold overall, but only one person claimed the big prize. The ticket was purchased through the lottery app, and the win was promptly registered to the player’s name.
While the Lottery has not disclosed more information about the winner, they emphasized the success of their digital platform, which has increased sales, boosted tax revenue, and created more winners.
Earlier in June, the Illinois Lottery reported another significant win, when a person known as King of the Castle won $1,348,768 and posed with a giant check. King of the Castle also used the Illinois iLottery app, showcasing its convenience and efficiency.
While some regions, such as Texas, have had issues with lottery apps, Illinois’s proprietary app has proven successful. In contrast, a woman in Texas was denied an $83.5 million payout because her ticket was bought via a courier.
Illinois’s digital lottery app has led to a successful lottery industry, turning many players into big winners.
