There was an agonizing VAR delay exceeding five minutes to overturn the Brazilian striker’s header in the first half, and another unnecessary pause for a second VAR check confirming Ryan Yates was about a yard offside amid a penalty review. “It’s not football any more,” erupted the South Bank, though disillusionment with Wolves has lingered among the locals for a while.
When Igor Jesus seized the match-winning opportunity, he did so with flair, outjumping Emmanuel Agbadou and outmaneuvering Wolves’ goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, who came erratically from his line to intercept. The cross was exquisite: Omari Hutchinson, making his first league start for Forest, cut inside onto his left foot and delivered a delightful ball into the area. Hutchinson was also the source of Igor Jesus’s disallowed goal, but this time from a corner, where an offside Dan Ndoye was judged to be obstructing Johnstone.
