Saturday’s home loss has left Blackburn Rovers in relegation peril, amidst issues with the pitch and fan discontent directed at the owners, Venky’s.
In recent years, February has been especially harsh for Blackburn managers. Jon Dahl Tomasson and John Eustace both departed from the club in February 2024 and 2025, respectively, after falling out with the unpopular owners, Venky’s. The current manager, Valérien Ismaël, faces similar challenges as fans clamor for change, reflecting a recurring pattern of unrest at Ewood Park.
Having secured a seventh-place finish last season following a late surge under Ismaël, aspirations for a top-six finish this season have faded. The team suffered a narrow defeat by Hull, with Lewis Koumas scoring the decisive goal in the 81st minute, marking just one victory in their last 15 matches across all competitions. Now entrenched in the relegation zone, the threat of dropping to League One looms large, with a three-point deficit to West Brom, who occupy the last position of safety.
