As midnight approached in Berlin, it seemed like just another difficult Bundesliga day for Heidenheim. Sensing the opportunity, Heidenheim took a corner from Arijon Ibrahimovic, delivered just after the announced four minutes of stoppage time, extended due to Schimmer’s goal and its aftermath. Substitute Jan Schöppner headed it in, igniting chaos. Referee Patrick Ittrich quickly signaled the end of the game, and at last, more than two months after their only previous Bundesliga victory this season, Schmidt and his team secured three points.
