Hard Rock Bet recently faced a technical error that resulted in significantly larger payouts to winners of its weekly Live Trivia game. Instead of rectifying the issue, the company chose to embrace it, awarding unexpectedly large prizes to fortunate players.
Prez Emphasizes the Company’s Commitment to Fair Play
Hard Rock Bet New Jersey has been hosting a weekly trivia challenge since May on its online platform. Participants answer 10 questions to win from a weekly prize pool of $5,000, with some weeks featuring a $10,000 pool. Due to a technical glitch last week, every trivia winner received a $5,000 prize instead of the usual $14.
The mistake was quickly noticed by Hard Rock Bet’s team, but they opted to allow players to retain their winnings. Hard Rock Bet’s president, Matt Primeaux, stated:
“When made aware of the incorrect Live Trivia payouts, our response was quick and deliberate: the awards stand. While others may have tried to claw back the $5,000 awards — Hard Rock Bet wants to put our customers first wherever possible, not just when it’s convenient.”
Primeaux further noted that Hard Rock is dedicated to maintaining gaming experiences that are fair and transparent, avoiding terms and conditions that hinder players.
With 353 trivia winners, this led to a payout totaling $1,765,000, far surpassing the typical $5,000 or $10,000 prize pools.
Special Edition of Live Trivia Announced
Following the success of Live Trivia, Hard Rock Bet will offer its largest planned payout during the July 4 game, featuring a $25,000 prize pool in honor of Independence Day. The Independence Day Trivia special edition is set to begin at 8 pm EST this Friday, with participants having seven seconds per question.
High-Level Executive Suspended at Hard Rock
In other developments, Hard Rock has suspended its senior vice president of casino and hotel operations, Alex Pariente, amid serious allegations of policy violations, including potential financial fraud and player credit-related breaches. Hard Rock has committed to investigating the matter, though it has not disclosed whether Pariente faces termination.
