Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick admitted his team still has plenty of room for improvement despite a dramatic 4-3 comeback victory over Real Madrid in a chaotic El Clásico clash. The result brought them to the brink of a league and cup double in Flick’s debut season at the helm—but the German coach said the job isn’t done yet.
“We still have to get three more points to secure the title,” Flick said after the high-octane match. “My heart? I need to check that after what I just watched,” he joked, referring to the emotional rollercoaster of Sunday’s game.
Barcelona found themselves in deep trouble early on, trailing 2-0 within the first 15 minutes after two rapid-fire goals from Kylian Mbappé. The early deficit threatened to reopen the title race, with Madrid closing the gap at the top of the table to just one point.
But Barcelona roared back in sensational fashion. Goals from Eric Garcia and Lamine Yamal, followed by a brace from Raphinha before halftime, turned the tide in stunning fashion and ultimately sealed the win.
Despite the victory, Flick emphasized that the performance revealed defensive vulnerabilities his team needs to address. “We have to improve defensively,” he said. “We can’t allow situations like that. Against top teams, you get punished.”
