Friday's football tips: Slovakia decent value at 21/20 to crush Northern Ireland's dreams

It’s crunch time for Northern Ireland in the World Cup qualifiers as they bid to keep their hopes alive with a famous win in Slovakia tonight.

Michael O’Neill’s men trail the second-placed Slovaks by three points in Group A with just two games to play.

But they’ve already beaten Slovakia in Belfast so another win tonight would leave them sitting pretty ahead of a closing fixture at home to minnows Luxembourg.

Slovakia vs Northern Ireland top betting tips

A draw may not be the worst result for Northern Ireland tonight, given Slovakia have a tough closing game away to group leaders Germany.

So it will be interesting to see how O’Neill approaches this one tactically but it would be a risky move to play for a stalemate when a win would leave Northern Ireland’s fate in their own hands.

BOYLE Sports make Slovakia 21/20 favourites with home advantage and that seems fair enough given they’ve already beaten the Germans in Bratislava.

Northern Ireland are also missing some key players through injury so I’m going to have a punt on the Slovaks at odds-against.

O’Neill’s players will fight for their lives though so going for cards could pay off too. Conor Bradley is back from a ban and the Liverpool star is 2/1 at BOYLE Sports to go into the book again. I also like the 10/11 on offer at the same firm for the Irish to pick up most cards.

Poland vs Netherlands

There’s a Group G decider in Warsaw tonight as Poland look to cut the Netherlands’ superstars down to size.

The Dutch have dropped just two points in the section so far but that draw was at home to Poles in September.

Jan Urban’s side sit just three points behind the Netherlands so a win tonight would lift them above their opponents on head-to-head record.

BOYLE Sports can see it happening though as they make Ronald Koeman’s side 4/6 favourites, with the home win priced at 9/2.

This has the potential to be another stormy game so the card markets could offer some value again. BOYLE Sports are offering 21/20 on over 1.5 Dutch cards and that could pay off if the big crowd rattles some of Koeman’s players.

Memphis Depay should lead the line for the Netherlands and I like the evens on offer at Bet365 for the veteran to be fouled over 1.5 times.

Croatia vs Faroe Islands

Croatia are pretty much home and hosed in Group L and they can seal the deal tonight with a win over the Faroe Islands.

Zlatko Dalic’s men lead the Czechs by three points and this is their game in hand so top spot will be secured unless the minnows can pull off a major shock.

I though the Croats would be a lot shorter than the 1/9 on offer at BOYLE Sports, which looks worth a punt if you have the luxury of being filthy rich and can afford a huge stake.

That price is probably down to the fact the Faroes are having the greatest campaign in their history, having shed the tag of whipping boys.

They’ve collected 12 points so far and still have a chance of pipping the Czechs, albeit they would need a helping hand from minnows Gibraltar.

Croatia should still have too much class for the Faroes at home though so I’m going to back them at -2 in the handicap, which pays evens.

Veteran forward Andrej Kramaric has netted six time in these qualifiers so he looks decent value at evens with Bet365 for another goal.
