There’s a huge game in Ireland tonight as Derry City host Bohemians, with both teams needing a win to keep the heat on leaders Shamrock Rovers.
Bohemians sit eight points behind Shamrock, with Derry a further point back, but they both have a game in hand on the leaders.
So tonight’s showdown at Brandywell could have a huge bearing on the title race – and Shamrock will be hoping for a draw to keep them clear at the top.
Derry City vs Bohemians top betting tips
Derry City’s four-game winning run came to a halt last week as they lost 2-1 at Sligo but they’ve won 3-0 and 7-2 in their last two outings at home.
They also beat Bohemians 1-0 at Brandywell earlier in the season so the 5/4 on offer at BoyleSports for a Derry win could be worth a punt.
This fixture hasn’t been producing a lot of goals so far this season, with both matches ending in 1-0 home wins, and it should be tense again with so much at stake.
But betting against BTTS doesn’t offer much value at 7/10 and backing both teams to score might be a smarter move at evens given each side needs a win to stay in the title hunt.
Antwerp vs Union Saint-Gilloise
The Belgian top flight gets back underway tonight and champions Union Saint-Gilloise have a tricky opener on the road at Antwerp.
Union only finished third in the regular season but hit form in the play-offs, winning nine of their 10 games to pip Club Brugge to the crown.
Antwerp had a much tougher time after the league split and could only finish in fifth after winning two of their last 10 matches.
So it’s not a big surprise to see the champions as 20/21 favourites tonight, with Antwerp 11/5 outsiders at BoyleSports.
Union Saint-Gilloise have won the last two meetings 4-0 and 5-1 so it could pay to combine a Union win with over 1.5 goals at 7/5.
But Antwerp can take heart from the fact they also dished out a 5-1 hammering to Union last term and won two of the three meetings on home turf.
That makes going for goals a safer option and combining BTTS with over 2.5 goals pays evens.
AGF Aarhus vs Randers
We’re off to Denmark for our final game today, with AGF Aarhus and Randers both seeking their first win of the new season on matchday two.
Both teams got underway with draws last weekend as Aarhus were held 1-1 at Sonderjyske and Randers were denied a win by a late Velje leveller.
There wasn’t much between these sides last term as Aarhus finished third in the regular season, just one point ahead of Randers. But it was Randers who fared better in the Championship round and they stayed in fourth place as AGF slipped down to sixth.
Randers were unbeaten across all four meetings last term and claimed 3-1 victories, home and away, in the last two of those games.
So they could be worth a punt at tonight at 23/10 with BoyleSports, who make AGF 10/11 favourites with home advantage.
Betting on a close game looks like a smarter move and the half-time draw is 21/20 with the same firm.
