FanDuel Launches Peer-to-Peer Fantasy Product “FanDuel Picks” Ahead of NFL Season

North America’s premier online gaming company, FanDuel, yesterday debuted FanDuel Picks, a new peer-to-peer fantasy sports product designed to give fans a streamlined way to play during the NFL season. The launch spans 17 states where online sports betting is not yet available.

“Just in time for NFL season, we are excited to bring fans a social way to engage with the sports and athletes they love with the launch of FanDuel Picks,” said Rob Cullen, General Manager of FanDuel Picks. “The ‘more’ or ‘less’ selection model offers a streamlined fantasy sports experience, and we look forward to offering our customers another way to interact with games this season.”

What Is FanDuel Picks?

FanDuel Picks lets customers choose three to six athletes, select “more” or “less” on their projected stat lines, and compete for pooled prize money. Players earn points for correct selections, and those with the highest scores win shares of the prize pool.

Payouts can reach up to 1,000x the entry fee, according to FanDuel’s press release.

Where Did It Launch?

The product launched yesterday in 17 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin.

Positioning and Market Dynamics

FanDuel Picks extends the company’s reach into states without legalized sports betting, targeting high-population markets like Texas, Georgia, and Minnesota. Its pick’em-style format is similar to offerings from PrizePicks and Underdog Fantasy, which have occasionally faced regulatory scrutiny for resembling prop betting. This launch reflects FanDuel’s strategy to grow its user base in the DFS space while positioning itself for future expansion into regulated sports betting markets.
