FanDuel Introduces New AI-Powered Responsible Gaming Tool
FanDuel has launched a new responsible gaming feature called Real-Time Check-In, aimed at helping users manage their gambling habits more effectively. Announced at the SBC Summit Americas, the technology leverages machine learning to provide customers with real-time feedback on their deposit behavior, promoting safer play.
Real-Time Check-In is designed to automatically monitor customer deposit patterns. If a deposit significantly deviates from a user’s usual behavior—such as being much higher than typical amounts—the system will initiate a prompt, encouraging the customer to reconsider before proceeding. Depending on the threshold set by the system, users may be required to either lower their deposit or establish a deposit limit before continuing with the transaction.
Cory Fox, FanDuel’s Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Sustainability, presented the feature at the event. He explained that the system evaluates multiple factors including deposit amounts, seasonal timing in the sports betting calendar, and individual user patterns to assess behavior. “Now, we’re able to use machine learning to provide a new level of support through Real-Time Check-In, encouraging customers to reflect on how much money they’re depositing and if it’s within their budget,” said Fox.
The Real-Time Check-In feature is now available across all U.S. markets where FanDuel operates, and applies to both online sports betting and iGaming.
This latest innovation builds on FanDuel’s growing suite of responsible gaming tools. In December, the company introduced “My Spend,” a dashboard that allows users to track their spending and gaming behavior over different time frames—seven days, four weeks, or three months. Users can view detailed personal stats, including total deposits and net winnings.
According to FanDuel, over half of its active users have engaged with the My Spend tool since its launch, and those who do are more likely to set limits on their gaming activity.
With the addition of Real-Time Check-In, FanDuel continues its commitment to responsible gaming by offering customers more personalized and proactive tools to monitor and manage their play.
