Linney’s hat-trick leads Carlisle to stunning victory

Substitute Regan Linney delivered an unforgettable hat-trick as National League team Carlisle shocked League One’s Reading with a dramatic 3-2 win in extra time during the FA Cup first round. Linney scored twice in added time of the second half to push the match into extra time, following goals by Lewis Wing and Mark O’Mahony for the home team, and completed his hat-trick in the 94th minute to secure the comeback.
Meanwhile, fellow National League side Gateshead claimed a 2-0 away win over League One contenders AFC Wimbledon. Goals from Kain Adom and Fenton John, scored on either side of half-time, sealed the win against the Dons, who currently hold sixth place in the third tier.
