With the semi-finals of the Europa League heading into the second legs, we have a much clearer picture of who might play in the big game and eventually lift the trophy.
Right now, it seems that we’re bound for an all-English final and the latest Europa League winner odds certainly reflect this.
UEFA Europa League winner odds – current leaders
Manchester United – 6/5
After beating Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in Spain, we would have to see a bottle job of epic proportions for the Red Devils to lose this tie. Man Utd have been among the main favourites all season, but coming into the semi-finals, it was the Basque team that was the main favourite to lift the trophy.
With a spot in the final all but guaranteed, Manchester United fans will be hoping for another European trophy and, perhaps even more important, for a place in next Champions League season. If they fail to win in the final, Man Utd won’t be playing in Europe at all next season since they’re currently in the lower half of the Premier League standings.
Tottenham – 5/6
Just like Man Utd, Spurs are also hoping for a win in the Europa League to save their season since they’re closer to the relegation zone than the top when it comes to the Premier League.
Tottenham have a 3-1 advantage going into the second leg of the semi-finals, but they will travel to Norway where Bodo/Glimt certainly have a chance of turning things around. Still, we will likely see Tottenham joining Manchester United in the Europa League final.
Bodo/Glimt – 20/1
With a two-goal deficit after their duel with Tottenham in London, the Norwegian champions will have to find their best form as they prepare to host the Spurs.
While it’s unlikely to see them turn this tie around, Bodo/Glimt at least have a better chance of reaching the final than Athletic Bilbao, the next team on our list.
Athletic Bilbao – 50/1
Although it might seem tempting to see such high odds on a team that was the main favourite to lift the Europa League trophy just a week ago, it’s hard to envision a scenario in which Athletic Bilbao get to the final after losing 3-0 at home to Man Utd.
Our prediction
Current Europa League winner odds suggest that Man Utd and Tottenham are the two favourites to win the competition, and at this stage, it’s pretty certain that one of them will.
Our choice would be Manchester United, simply because Tottenham are known as a team that’s used to losing in the final of cup competitions.
