Tuchel: ‘We don’t go to the World Cup next week’
Manager defends late introduction of Ivan Toney
Thomas Tuchel urged England not to panic about their World Cup chances despite a setback against Senegal, occurring a year before the tournament begins.
At the City Ground, Tuchel faced his first defeat as England manager, and the team experienced their first loss to an African side in 22 matches, with Senegal securing a 3-1 victory. Jude Bellingham’s goal was controversially disallowed at 2-1, but after the unconvincing win against Andorra in World Cup qualifying on Saturday, England’s performance under their German coach remained disappointing. The team was booed off the field for the second consecutive game.
