He revealed on a recent podcast appearance that he often gambled on the plane when on the way to games with teammates. This got to such a point in 2015 when he was with the Washington Nationals that he had to start signing extra autograph trading cards to make up for his losses:
Max Scherzer, an 8-time MLB All-Star, recently revealed that back in 2015, he lost so much money gambling with his teammates that he had to call his agent to send more stickers and cards to sign in hopes to recoup his losses. ????

He had to sign about 2,000 cards to break even. The 40-year-old is still playing pro baseball, currently signing out with the Toronto Blue Jays.
