Edson Barboza vs Drakkar Klose Preview
Edson Barboza remains a respected striker known for his arsenal of kicks. He lands just over four significant strikes per minute and is known for pushing the pace of his bouts. He lost his last fight to Lerone Murphy by decision in May of 2024. He will return to the octagon for the first time in over a year in this fight and he will look to prove that there is no rust after that long layoff from competition.
Drakkar Klose is a well-rounded fighter. He lands slightly more significant strikes per minute than Barboza at 4.33 per minute. He had a four-fight winning streak snapped in his last fight when he lost by first-round knockout to Joel Alvarez in December of 2024. Klose is at a reach disadvantage and he will need to figure out how to overcome that and get in close to neutralize Barboza’s striking capabilities.

Barboza has the experience advantage and is the better striker going into this matchup. The big question will be whether or not Barboza will look like the same fighter that we have seen in the past. I don’t know that we necessarily get a vintage Edson Barboza performance here. But I do think that we get enough from Barboza to win this fight.
The Brazilian is no longer the kind of fighter that I expect to secure a win via finish. But he should do enough to get a decision here. I won’t hold his loss to Lerone Murphy against him given that Murphy is doing so well in UFC. Look for Barboza by decision to come in at plus money.
