Ten individuals are on trial following the fatal acid attack on a man at his home, allegedly due to a debt owed to a drug lord.
Before dying from his injuries, 38-year-old Danny Cahalane disclosed that he owed GBP 120,000 ($164,051) to a Dubai crime boss known as “Frost,” whose real name is Ryan Kennedy, according to prosecutors.
On February 21, 2025, two attackers invaded Cahalane’s home and attacked him with acid. He died 10 weeks later. The defendants, including seven men and three women, face charges of murder, manslaughter, attempted kidnapping, and participating in drug trafficking activities.
Among the accused is 35-year-old Paris Wilson, Cahalane’s ex-wife and mother of one of his children.
Jurors have learned about messages from Cahalane’s ex-wife to her mother, indicating the crime boss was aggravated over the unpaid debt. Both were reportedly searching for Cahalane’s location. Wilson eventually provided the address, hoping for a cash reward.
Threatening messages from Kennedy to Cahalane before the attack were presented in court, containing statements like: “Your [sic] gonna die… U just need to die… You done me £80K… they coming up now”.
Prosecutor Jo Martin KC alleged that Kennedy’s men attempted an unsuccessful break-in at Cahalane’s home on January 19, 2025, intending to kill him. Subsequently, Kennedy sent another threat: “Close call? Mate, I’m telling you they gonna burn gafs (houses) down and your gonna die.”
Cahalane had informed police that he was in “sort of middle management in [Kennedy’s] drugs supply chain” but had lost a significant amount of Kennedy’s money gambling and believed that an associate had absconded with the drug lord’s funds.
