Conflicts between opposing groups have escalated due to ongoing disagreements involving accusations of racism.
Crystal Palace fans were expected to enjoy a memorable night. Approximately 1,500 supporters officially traveled to Strasbourg for their second away match in the Conference League group stage last week, with many more gathering in the charming Alsatian city known for its extensive Christmas market.
However, while most fans celebrated Palace’s inaugural European journey following their FA Cup victory in May, a “tiny majority,” as described in the club’s statement the next day, had other plans. Viral footage showed bottles and chairs being hurled as two rival factions of the same club’s supporters clashed before the game in one of the city’s squares. The message “Palace fans fighting each other in Strasbourg” soon spread on X, causing widespread bewilderment.
