A woman has been jailed following a robbery at a Chick-fil-A drive-thru, after which she gambled the stolen money at a nearby casino. Kaudija Haynes is accused of threatening fast food employees with mace to obtain cash. According to law enforcement, the Birmingham resident fled the scene recklessly.
Police tracked Haynes to Wind Creek Casino in Wetumpka, Alabama. After crashing her SUV and leaving the area on foot, officers from the Poarch Creek Tribal Police Department and Wetumpka Police Department arrested her on Friday.
Remarkably, Haynes was uninjured despite the car being heavily damaged and partially airborne, as shown in photos on the police department’s Facebook page. Wetumpka Police Chief Paul Irwin commented on how Haynes “put others in danger and could have killed herself,” attributing her actions to the effects of gambling and drugs.
The 32-year-old remains in custody, facing multiple charges, including resisting arrest, illegal possession of a controlled substance, and robbery.
