Referee pauses match after Chelsea scores
Alleged racist actions from a spectator
Chelsea denounced racist abuse directed at their youth players during their under-19 Uefa Youth League match against Qarabag in Baku, which was stopped due to an incident reportedly involving a home supporter on Wednesday.
The game was paused following Sol Gordon’s opening goal for Chelsea in the 58th minute, after which a fan seemingly made racist gestures towards the visiting team’s players. Witnesses reported monkey gestures and sounds were made. The match continued at the Azersun Arena, and Chelsea secured a 5-0 victory.
