BOOM Esports Exits Dota 2 After 8 Years

Indonesian esports giant BOOM Esports has officially shut down its Dota 2 division, marking the end of an eight year journey filled with triumphs, TI appearances, and fierce SEA battles.

The announcement came via their X account, thanking players and fans as the org shifts focus to other titles like Valorant and PUBG Mobile.

History in Dota 2

Founded as BOOM ID in 2017, the org pioneered Indonesian talent on the global stage, expanding to SEA stars and even a brief South American experiment.

Highlights include:

  • 2022 GAMERS GALAXY Invitational victory: Upset Tundra Esports in Dubai finals (Tundra later won TI11).
  • Two TI appearances: Including a 14th-15th finish at TI 2025.

CEO and founder Gary Ongko Putera reflected: “GGs good runs everyone… On to the next chapter!”

The org bid farewell: “Thank you to every player who wore the BOOM jersey… This legacy will forever be part of who we are.”
