Bay Mills Resort & Casino, located in Brimley, Michigan, experienced a partial roof collapse, resulting in the temporary closure of the gaming floor. The casino has since reopened, but the impacted area is still off-limits.
On January 7, 2025, the Bay Mills Indian Community announced that Sacy’s Restaurant, one of the property’s dining establishments, suffered a partial roof collapse. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The community reported that law enforcement, EMS, and the fire department were promptly notified to ensure safety. Experts suggested that broken roof trusses may have caused the collapse.
As a precaution, Bay Mills Indian Community closed Sacy’s Restaurant and evacuated the gaming floor. Guests and employees were directed to the Back Bay Grill & Games.
Shortly after the initial report, the casino confirmed on its official Facebook page that the gaming floor had reopened. However, some areas remain closed, including the hallway to Sacy’s Restaurant and the restaurant itself.
A statement from Bay Mills Resort & Casino highlighted that the main casino floor is operational, but Sacy’s Restaurant and the adjacent hallway will stay closed. Visitors were advised to use the walkway between the casino floor and the hotel.
Despite the reopening, the collapse led to the cancellation of the Comedy Club event originally scheduled for the following day. The event has been rescheduled for January 16.
In spite of the roof collapse, patrons at Bay Mills Resort & Casino continued to enjoy gaming, resulting in several big wins. The casino reported four significant winners on the day of the collapse. The prizes included $15,610.76 won by a Huff n’ More Puff player, $5,834.61 by a Game King player, $4,698 by a Buffalo Gold Collection player, and $3,700 by a Dragon Link Panda Magic player.
The casino expressed gratitude to its patrons for their trust, patience, and understanding during the emergency.
