Lionesses captain Leah Williamson acknowledges significant changes since 2022 as the team gets ready for France. Williamson expressed feelings of anxiety leading up to England’s European title defense against France on Saturday, having missed the 2023 World Cup due to an ACL injury.
“I’ve likely held some anxiety until now because I wanted to be here with the team and experience another tournament with England,” said the captain. “It’s special to represent your country in another place and absorb everything. It’s quite different from England in 2022. I’m excited, but so much has changed, so I’m eager to enjoy this tournament football.”
