France’s gambling regulator, L’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ), has strengthened its leadership by appointing a new director general, Pauline Hot, who will succeed the outgoing Rémi Lataste.
Hot Becomes the Authority’s New Director General
ANJ announced that Hot, a former École Normale Supérieure and École Nationale d’Administration student, has past experience as an auditor and master of requests at the Council of State. Hot joined the ANJ in January as deputy director general, demonstrating her commitment and earning the organization’s trust in her abilities.
Lataste Exits the ANJ
Hot will replace Rémi Lataste, who is leaving for a similar role at Campus Condorcet. Reflecting on his five years at ANJ, Lataste praised the regulator’s achievements, describing his tenure as a “formidable collective adventure.” He commended ANJ’s efforts to protect minors, curb excessive gambling, tackle illegal operators, and reform the market, crediting the exceptional ANJ team for these accomplishments.

ANJ Published Real Progress Report
In terms of progress, ANJ recently published its latest activity report, highlighting the evolution of French gaming following major reforms. The report notes significant compliance progress, with licensees adhering to AML and gambling obligations, fostering a healthier market.
However, ANJ noted a rise in self-excluded players, indicating both greater visibility of self-exclusion services and a possible increase in at-risk individuals.
