Two 18-year-old academy players, Sidiki Chérif and Prosper Peter, are scoring the goals Angers need to remain in Ligue 1.
Deprived of last season’s top scorer and unable to sign a replacement, Angers had no choice but to rely on two 18-year-old strikers from their academy. Sidiki Chérif and Prosper Peter proved it was the right decision.
The season began with a win for Angers, though it brought more fear than hope. Esteban Lepaul scored the only goal as they defeated Paris FC. He had been a revelation in the latter half of last season, with nine goals ensuring safety for the team, Ligue 1’s second lowest scorers. However, with Rennes showing interest, he was gone by the end of August.
