They now face Essendon, a team that has only covered the line in two of its last eight away games against the Dockers. Essendon has a 2-7 head-to-head record as the away underdog against Fremantle in recent years. Fremantle brings a four-game winning streak into this game, while Essendon has lost four consecutive away games. Fremantle’s 1.19 head-to-head odds seem too short, so I will opt for the winning margin market. You have to go back to 2016 for the last time Essendon lost by 40+ to Fremantle in Perth. Although Essendon has experienced some heavy defeats this season, like last week, they often perform more competitively in the following round. I would back Fremantle 1-39 at 2.15 (Dabble). Those seeking less risk might consider Essendon +39.5 at 1.50 (bet365).
Other markets of interest include the first two quarters and the first half. Fremantle has gone 4-1 in both the first quarter and first half at home this season, while Essendon has gone 1-6 in both the first quarter and first half away. Essendon has particularly struggled in the first quarter, trailing by 13+ in eight of the nine instances they were behind. However, in the second quarter, Fremantle has gone 2-3 at home, while Essendon has gone 5-2 away.
