Georgia is intensifying its efforts to combat gambling-related harm by promoting its national self-exclusion list, managed by the state’s Revenue Service.
Currently, the self-exclusion list includes over 30,000 individuals, with 30,451 participants and an additional 4,000 joining since early May. Of the total, 30,392 opted in voluntarily, while 59 were added by court order.
The list’s growth isn’t necessarily due to increased gambling or irresponsible behavior but rather a focus on improving accessibility and ease of registration for the self-exclusion program.
“The system offers a confidential and secure way for individuals to protect themselves from gambling addiction,” the agency stated. Those on the list are prohibited from gambling within the country and on any regulated platforms.
However, challenges persist with unregulated websites, as the country works to address its illegal gambling market.
